Gaining Financial Momentum
American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR)
The AACVPR is a multi-discipline healthcare organization with over 2,600 members that is dedicated to the professional development of its members who are involved in the profession of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation.
|
| Challenge: |
The AACVPR had encountered a financial loss two of the previous three years, generating most of its revenue from membership dues. The organization moved to SmithBucklin in 2001, in need of financial management guidance. |
|
| Solution: |
Streamlining the organization, SmithBucklin implemented a governance restructure and downsized the board. To significantly boost reserves and contain costs, we recommended reducing expenses and generating non-dues revenue by reinvesting back into the organization. Working with AACVPR leaders, SmithBucklin staff redesigned the logo and Web site, implemented a revenue-generating members-only section offering robust content, organized a profitable distance learning engagement, shifted the print newsletter to email and online, and utilized a job hire service for which they received 40% commission on all employment posting ads. |
|
| Results: |
AACVPR has gained financial momentum while providing improved membership benefits. In 2003, the organization increased top line revenue up 33% from 2002. Within two years, non-dues revenue has risen 114%. 2003 has generated a significant profit, a considerable jump from a loss in 2000. |
