Success with Online Space Assignments

North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers (NAFEM)
The NAFEM Show is a showcase of innovative products and applications for foodservice equipment and supplies that is held every other year. The show occupies 320,000 net square feet of exhibit space and attracts more than 15,000 foodservice professionals.

Challenge: Previously, NAFEM conducted an in-person, exhibitor space selection every other year. Exhibitors had to fly staff to Chicago to select booth space. Through this process exhibitors incurred air, hotel and travel expenses in addition to unnecessary time out of the office.

Solution: SmithBucklin recommended conducting a live, online space assignment process. Exhibitors selected booth space, in priority point order, from an online floorplan that was updated in real time on the NAFEM Web site as assignments were made. This allowed exhibitors to pick space from the convenience of their offices in a much shorter time frame.

Results: Exhibitors saved money and time, and nearly 70% of the floorplan was assigned a year in advance.
