Cost containment measures prevent many health care professionals from attending conferences, the typical vehicle for delivering educational content. Consequently, members of health care associations and societies are demanding more educational value for their dollar. Organizations are challenged with finding creative methods of delivering educational content outside of conferences. Additionally, they encounter some or all of the following challenges:
- Shrinking pool of volunteer leaders with less time to commit
- Severe cost-containment pressures and identifying viable non-dues income streams
- Increased competition for attendee time, dollars and commitment
- Providing tools to help manage and deliver quality patient care - from how to code a claim correctly, to efficient ways to run a practice
- Providing information on the most current treatment for diseases/conditions
- Developing effective strategic partnerships with related industry organizations
- Uncertainty about the future
At SmithBucklin, we understand that in order to compete and grow, a health care association today must:
- Improve its ability to create and deliver new and unique member value and enhanced individual professional growth, focusing on educational opportunities
- Pursue and develop alliances and coalitions with allied organizations and special interest groups in order to advance legislative agendas
- Reduce dependence from traditional revenue sources by aggressively and creatively developing new opportunities
- Acquire strategic leadership, innovation, speed and change management as core organizational competencies
- Invest in strategic marketing and branding
- Commit to ongoing visioning and strategic planning
- Adopt a governance culture and structure that emphasizes speed, strategic thinking, accountability and flexibility
